Stage 1 starts with a health check: fault codes, turbo condition, injector balance and intake readings. Your ECU — the engine control unit, your car's engine computer — is read first, and your original file is saved as a backup before anything is written. The new calibration stays within the manufacturer's safety margins, so no new parts are needed. What the car gains depends on the engine: turbocharged cars respond best, while naturally aspirated petrols gain little, and we will tell you honestly if yours is not worth tuning.
