Custom ECU Mapping Birmingham

Mapping service covers custom ECU calibration work: reading your original file, adjusting it for your engine and hardware, and writing it back with a full backup. Ask us if your vehicle is unusual or modified.

When you need this

  • Non-standard or modified engine
  • Previous tune needs revising
  • Unusual make or ECU

How it works

  1. Send make, model, year and engine size.
  2. We read the ECU and run a health check first.
  3. Original file is saved, then the new calibration is written.
  4. Road test and a copy of your original file for your records.

In detail

A remap is a finished tune for your car; a mapping service is the workshop behind it. This is the file work itself: reading the ECU (engine control unit), adjusting the calibration for an unusual engine, non-standard parts or a previous tune that needs revising, then writing it back with your original file kept as backup. Not every ECU is supported, so send your vehicle details first and we confirm before booking. If your car is standard and you just want better drivability, you want a Stage 1 remap instead.

Questions about mapping service

What is an ECU mapping service?

It is custom calibration work on your ECU file: we read the original, adjust it for your engine and hardware, and write it back with a full backup kept. It is the file work itself — different from booking a standard Stage 1 remap for a standard car.

What is the difference between a remap and a mapping service?

A remap is the finished tune you drive away with. A mapping service is the underlying file work — reading, editing and writing ECU calibrations — used for unusual engines, odd parts combinations or revising someone else's tune. Standard car? You want Stage 1.

Can you map my car?

Possibly — but not every ECU is supported. Send your make, model, year and engine size, plus what is modified, and we will confirm before anything is booked. We would rather turn work away than guess on an unsupported unit.

Can you fix a bad remap from another tuner?

Often, yes. We read the current file, work out what was changed and either revise it properly or write a clean calibration. If the original file is lost, we work from a stock file for your ECU where one is available.

Do I get a copy of my original ECU file?

Yes, always. Your original file is read and saved before anything is written, so the car can be returned to standard at any time. That backup is part of the service, not an extra.

How much does custom ECU mapping cost?

It depends on the ECU and the complexity of the work, so we give a fixed quote before we travel. Send your vehicle details and what you need, and we confirm the price before booking.
