Central Locking & Window Repair Birmingham

Doors that will not lock together, windows that stick or alarms that go off for no reason are usually a failed motor, switch, actuator or wiring fault in the door loom. We test, repair and confirm everything operates.

When you need this

  • One door will not lock
  • Window stuck or slow
  • Alarm triggers randomly

How it works

  1. Describe what happens and when.
  2. We test battery, charging, wiring and modules.
  3. We repair or replace only what is proven faulty.
  4. Everything is tested again before we leave.

In detail

We test from the switch outward: first the switch, then the motor or actuator — the small electric motor that physically moves the lock or window — then the wiring. The door loom, the bundle of wires in the rubber boot between the door and the body, is a classic failure point because it flexes every time the door opens. One faulty door usually means a local part; all doors failing together points to a fuse or the central module.

Questions about central locking, electric windows & car alarm repair

My electric window is stuck down — can you fix it?

Usually, yes. We test the switch, then the window motor, then the regulator — the mechanism that moves the glass. A stuck window is often a failed motor or a snapped regulator cable. We make the car secure before we leave.

One door won’t lock with the central locking — why?

Almost always a failed door actuator — the small motor inside that door that drives the lock. The other doors work because they have their own actuators. We test the actuator, its wiring and the switch, then repair or replace the faulty part.

Why does my car alarm keep going off for no reason?

Usually a faulty sensor telling the alarm a door or bonnet is open: a worn door latch sensor, a sticking bonnet switch, or a weak car battery confusing the system. We test each trigger point until we find the one crying wolf, then repair or replace it.

Is it the window motor or the regulator?

We test to find out rather than guess. If the motor runs but the glass doesn’t move, the regulator mechanism has failed. If nothing happens at all, it’s the motor, the switch or the wiring. The fix and the cost are different, so testing first matters.

Can you fix a central locking fault at my home?

Yes — this is exactly the kind of job we do at your car. Door actuators, switches, window motors and alarm sensors are all accessible on site. You get a fixed quote before we travel, and we test every door, window and the alarm before we leave.

My key won’t turn in the door — is that central locking?

No — that’s a mechanical lock fault, not an electrical one. A worn or damaged lock barrel needs a different repair. See our car door lock repair page; if the remote locking works but the key won’t turn, the barrel is the culprit.
